We support a number of operating systems on
all of our server range. This means you have the freedom to choose
the OS you are most comfortable with. We will install and configure
the operating system of your choice as part of the service. If you
have any special requirements we will do our best to cater for these
too.

Windows 2008 Server
Windows Server 2008 builds on the success and strengths of its
Windows Server predecessors. Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.0,
a Web server and security-enhanced, easy-to-manage platform for developing
and reliably hosting Web applications and services.

Windows 2003 Server
Designed for building and hosting Web applications,
Web pages, and XML Web services. Windows 2003 takes advantage
of improvements in Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0,
Microsoft ASP.NET, and the Microsoft® .NET Framework. |

Linux
Our preferred flavour is RedHat Enterprise version ES5 at time of writing.
The Apache webserver is configured to run CGI's and PHP with
mySQL for database work. DNS, email, firewalling are all included
in a base install (version ES4 at time of writing). |

BSD
BSD is regarded as the "original"
UNIX. See BSD dominate Netcraft
in the listings of the longest running webservers. We install
Apache, Perl, PHP and mySQL as default. |
When choosing hardware bear in mind that a Windows
server requires more CPU and RAM than an equivalent UNIX system
supporting the same number of sites.
